Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Round as the world's first mobile phone with a curved display.
The smartphone has a concave appearance with a unique 5.7-inch AMOLED screen, which makes it the same size as the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. It measures 7.9mm in thickness and weighs 154g, but will only be available on the manufacturer's home soil of South Korea for now.
Samsung has hailed the Galaxy Round as a smartphone that offers "a comfortable hand grip feeling to users", according to the company's official Samsung Tomorrow blog.
The company is yet to announce what other regions, if any, the device will be heading to, as well as leaving out any timescale for international releases.
Samsung has drawn attention to the Galaxy Round's Roll Effect, which allows users to "check information such as the date, time, missed calls and battery easily when home screen is off", as well as the Gravity Effect "for creating visual interaction with the screen by tilting the device".
