It seems as though Samsung has only just released its wearable mobile phone – the Galaxy Gear – but it is already planning a successor.
According to Korean site ET News, which spoke to a Samsung employee, the Galaxy Gear 2 smartwatch could be "about 15 per cent to 20 per cent thinner than previous production", which could make it a lot more comfortable to wear.
The Samsung spokesperson also told the news provider that the new smartwatch would work with the upcoming flagship model – the Samsung Galaxy S5. This could mean that we would see both devices arrive in quick succession or even have the same launch date.
Earlier reports from ET News have indicated that the Galaxy S5 would arrive in March or April next year (2014). This means that the duo of devices could arrive as a package to gain more interest in the smartwatch.
The Galaxy Gear 2 could allow consumers to use the smartwatch for games, entertainment and health care functions, which could see the device work as a tracker.
