Rumours about when Samsung may debut its Galaxy S5 mobile phone have been flying around for a while. However, comments from the design director have added weight to previous reports that the flagship could land fairly soon.
Many have speculated for some time that Samsung's next handset would arrive at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February, though the company hasn't made an appearance at the event since 2011.
Although Samsung has preferred to hold its own dedicated events for new handsets in the past, the company was criticised for the flashy way it unveiled the Galaxy S4 in 2013.
This may have steered the Korean manufacturers back to the global event that will take place in Barcelona during next month (February).
Samsung's head of design Dong-hoon Chang reportedly told the Korean media, during a New Year's Eve party in Seoul, that a MWC announcement for the Galaxy S5 was "about right".
He has also recently confirmed that the handset will bring a new build material, as well as the possibility of flexible display.
