Recycling a mobile phone now and switching to a superior device that offers access to online retail sites may be a good move between now and Christmas.
That is because consumers who have a brand new internet-enabled handset on or after December 25th will be in a great position to enjoy the sales.
New research by IMRG has found that Britons are likely to spend £186.4 million online – both via computers and mobiles – on Christmas Day alone.
This represents a rise of about 12 per cent on the total splashed out on items last year.
“Although shopping on Christmas Day might not appear to quite be in the Christmas spirit, it is worth considering that many of these sales could actually be associated with popular gifts people have received,” said David Smith, chief marketing and communications officer at IMRG.
Lucy Hedges, a TV presenter and technology journalist, recently said it is tablet devices that are the “hot” present for Christmas 2011.
