The people of the UK have been advised to recycle mobile phones and other electronic items by the country's government.
According to the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, a new campaign has been launched in a bid to encourage people to recycle following the Christmas period.
It noted that many electrical and electronic goods are purchased as gifts at this time of the year, leaving people with older gadgets and appliances that are no longer required.
"That's why now is the right time for a campaign, which reminds people about recycling their old electrical and electronic equipment and shows them how easy it can be," stated business minister Mark Prisk.
Many items that are not recycled will end up in landfill sites, so taking the green option can pay off both in monetary terms and for the environment.
Jon Selby, outsource partner manager at Tier1 Asset Management, recently said it is worth reusing as much technology as possible.
