The latest mobile phones with Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology could be snapped up by savvy surfers, as 4G internet is “up to 20-times faster” than 3G.
Technology journalist Michael Brook also claims that this high-speed network allows a user to download a movie in just ten minutes, whereas it would take one hour using older services.
One-quarter of people believe that they “genuinely could not manage without the internet”, a survey by Aldermore found.
Brits increasingly depend on their handset to check email, browse the web and watch videos online, because of the convenience of surfing on the go.
This means that a faster connection is important to a number of consumers, so more people might opt for high-tech devices like the Apple iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3.
Nokia’s Lumia 920, which is powered by Windows Phone 8, HTC One X+, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Huawei Ascend P1 LTE handsets also support the technology.
Currently, the only UK telecommunications network to offer the service is EE, but 4G should come to more providers next year.
