Nokia has accused Apple of overriding its voice-activated assistant Siri after it had appeared to favour the Lumia 900 as the best smart mobile phone.
Over the weekend, Siri users that asked “What is the best smartphone ever?” were told it was the Nokia Lumia 900.
However, Siri now responds to the same question with “Wait…there are other phones?”
Apple has not confirmed a change has been made, while Nokia accused Apple of “overriding the software” after it noticed the issue.
The Siri software uses the computational search engine Wolfram Alpha to serve answers to certain questions.
For the question about which is the best smartphone, Wolfram Alpha pooled available reviews from the website of US retailer Best Buy.
“Apple position Siri as the intelligent system that’s there to help, but clearly if they don’t like the answer, they override the software,” Nokia spokeswoman Tracy Postill told the Sydney Morning Herald.
