Whether it is for the new Nokia 5800 XpressMusic or the Samsung Galaxy, a new survey has found shoppers may be better off online.
According to a report published by Omio this week, consumers could save up to 40 per cent by hunting down their new device using the web – in comparison to hitting the high street.
The company selected the 5800 as its target handset and set about looking around for the best deal it could find on a £25 monthly tariff.
It was advised the model could be picked up on the O2 network for a one-off payment of £48.93 on an 18-month contract that includes 200 free minutes and texts in a retail store.
However, the 5800 was found via an online search that required no initial charge, gave an extra 400 calling minutes and unlimited texts, as well as half price line rental.
Omio’s Ernest Doku commented: “[We have] proven that consumers are missing out on hundreds of pounds of savings by overlooking independent online retailers.”
The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is one of the Finnish manufacturer’s devices that are available on the Comes With Music package.
