Consumers in the UK and Ireland will have the first opportunity to trade in mobiles and switch to the new Motorola Xoom 2.
ABI Research has indicated that the tablet device is due to be released on these shores before anywhere else.
Sales figures indicate it is already phasing out the original Xoom in order to make way for the exciting development.
However, the research body is quick to note that Motorola will face plenty of competition in what is already a crowded market, with high-quality products such as the Apple iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab available.
A cut corner mechanical design is said to be the biggest difference between the original and the Xoom 2 and could tempt some fans to snap it up.
Motorola enjoyed success recently when its Droid 3 device was named as one of the market's top five most popular mobile phones in the third quarter of 2011.
