As more and more rumours surface about the competitive world of smartphones, telecommunications company Motorola may just throw everyone off course by launching not one, but eight smartphones in the run up to Christmas!
According to a report from PhoneArena, the eight devices will be : DROID, DROID Maxx, DROID Turbo, Moto S, Moto G, Moto X+1, Moto X Play, and the Nexus.
Some of the reported smartphones may not exactly be a shock. Rumours of the Nexus having been raised before, as have reports of the Moto X+1, which has been rumoured to be the long-awaited successor to the Moto X.
Nevertheless, it is still quite surprising that Motorola may be planning to create such a large amount of smartphones.
However, not all of the alleged phones will make it onto the shelves. Apparently if the X+1 is successful, the DROID Turbo may not be released. Similarly, only one of the X Play or Moto S will be released, although this may come down to which display consumers prefer, with the Moto S being 5.9 inches and the X Play having a 5.2 inch display.
Although it may seem that only six of the eight rumoured phones will actually be going on sale, the next four months could be a very trying time for Motorola. By releasing a significant number of devices, they will be going head to head with the biggest names in the smartphone industry.
With the -also rumoured- release of the iPhone 6 this September, and Samsung’s Galaxy Alpha, Motorola are in for some tough competition.
Recent reports do, however, show that since its acquisition by Lenovo, it has made an impressive turnaround in its sales figures.
