Apple has announced its eagerly-anticipated iPad 2 will hit the shelves in the US later today (March 11th), which could lead to some consumers trading in their mobile phones in order to fund a purchase of the device.
Perhaps the best news of all for British customers is that the date for the iPad 2’s UK release has also been set, with the manufacturer planning to launch the product on these shores on March 25th.
But the initial focus will be on the US market, where stores will be able to sell the tablet from 17:00 local time today.
Among the reasons for purchasing the device is the iPad 2’s impressive specifications, which includes the use of a 9.7-inch LCD screen, fast performance graphics and two cameras.
The design of the product is also said to be thinner and lighter than ever before, with a host of new features packed into less space.
Apple released the original version of the iPad in April last year.
