According to the Hornsey and Crouch End Journal, trading in an old handset can be ideal for generating cash when times are tough – and can also be a good way to donate to a worthy cause.
The publication has recently launched its own campaign in support of the Caudwell Children’s charity.
Commenting on the partnership, chief executive of the organisation Trudi Beswick said getting involved with the "unique recycling scheme" was a great idea.
She advised recycling mobile phones can "put a few extra pounds in your pocket", as well as making a difference to others in need.
Mrs Beswick continued by urging people to "rummage through their cupboards and find those old phones to make some extra cash".
The news may inspire people to check online and see how much their used phones are worth.
