The application market has increased markedly in recent times as more and more people look to download the latest game or technology straight on to their mobile phones.
It is so big that Apple recently noted that the number of apps downloaded on to its handsets had passed the 25 billion mark.
According to analyst firm Canalys the only thing that leading app store providers have to fear is complacency.
App interrogator surveys highlight this by showing that in a 16-week period in the US almost half of the titles in the top-100 paid lists appeared throughout the entire period.
This suggests some apps are not getting the attention they necessarily deserve.
Senior analyst with Canalys Tim Shepherd was quoted as saying: “We estimate that up to two-thirds of the apps in leading consumer app store catalogues receive fewer than 1,000 downloads in their first year, and a significant proportion of those get none at all.”
