A new mobile phone app competition has got underway in conjunction with the Cumbrian Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
It is an extension of the Life is a Rollercoaster website, which was originally designed by youngsters to provide access to all sorts of health and emotional issues.
The Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust wants to see the information extended into an app to reach out to more young people in the area.
It is asking children to submit their ideas for an app around one or all of the issues on the site, which include exam stress, smoking, diabetes and sexual health.
The increasing importance of apps throughout the world was highlighted recently as Apple’s App Store celebrated its 25 billionth download in March.
Kate Norman, e-communications officer at the trust commented: “It’s very important that we try and communicate with young people using the technology they use if we want to engage with them about health.”
