Speaking to the International Herald Tribune, director of mobile technology at IMS Research Bill Morelli said that consumers would now have to choose between two types of mobile phone design – the bar, or the sliding handset.
“We have seen a complete shift away from the flip and clamshell handsets. The focus is solely on bar phones and maximising screen size,” he commented.
Samsung displayed a model from the same vein at the MPC but with one difference – the handset was solar-powered.
According to the Telegraph, Apple‘s iPhone was a source of great inspiration to other mobile phone makers, with many of the handsets on display at the event boasting new technology as they compete alongside the trailblazer.
