Mazuma Mobile has become the first phone recycling company in the world to pay out £100 million to its customers.
The firm said it recently passed the landmark figure, which has been accumulating since the first trade in was completed in 2006.
As well as some 1,645 mobile phones, a number of the latest tablet devices are also exchanged by the organisation for cash.
"Our success has been achieved with our emphasis on providing the best phone values, a premium customer service and … being the only mobile phone recycler in the UK to provide same-day payments," explained Mazuma managing director Charlo Carabott.
The company is said to be "thrilled" that its UK customers are now £100 million better off having chosen to recycle mobile phones at the end of their lifespans rather than dispose of them in non-green ways.
Mazuma re-homes an average of 150,000 handsets every month and promises to provide high-quality service.
