LG Electronics has revealed the new design for a model of smartphone that features a slight curve in its body.
The LG Flex will feature a six-inch plastic OLED screen rather than a glass screen, which allows for a vertical curve along the length of the phone.
The phone is run on a 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and will come with two gigabytes of memory, which can be extended to 32, as well as a 13 megapixel camera.
LG said that the curved design increases the sound level by up to three decibels (compared to flat smartphones), and fits better on the user’s face and in their back pocket. They also said the shape makes it easier to handle.
This announcement comes just under three weeks after Samsung announced they would be releasing a curved smartphone of their own.
The Galaxy Round features a horizontal rather than a vertical curve. However, the handset is currently only available in Korea.
