Leaked photographs purportedly show a touchscreen BlackBerry 10 L-Series mobile phone.
The full touchscreen may come as a surprise, as Research in Motion (RIM) is known for manufacturing mobile phones with a physical QWERTY keyboard.
A leaked document says that all L-Series devices will be touchscreen, whereas new N-Series devices will have the traditional keyboard.
Existing BlackBerry fans may feel more comfortable with an N-Series, but RIM hope that the L-Series devices will penetrate the huge market for touchscreen phones which is currently dominated by Samsung and Apple.
The smartphone was designed by Porsche. It is sleek, black and rectangular and so looks similar to other, available touchscreen smartphones.
Rumours are that the mobile phone will feature an eight-megapixel camera and 16 GB of storage. A leaked video apparently shows the device with a removable 1800 mAh battery.
The handset is expected to be on the market early next year.
