People that recycled their mobile phone in order to get an iPhone have been taking advantage of Apple's top free apps it appears as research shows that users of the handset downloaded more than six million apps during December.
For the last month of 2011, the iPhone app store saw 6.04 million downloads per day, which represented a seven per cent jump over the previous high of 5.45 million in November, according to Fiksu.
Mobile ad firm Fiksu stated the downloads have been gaining momentum since September when the average daily number was just 3.8 million.
"Eager consumers actively downloaded apps on their new devices, and the brands that had secured higher ranks were able to acquire a higher volume of loyal app users," the firm stated.
A study conducted last month found that the number of apps downloaded in the last week of December reached more than a billion for the first time ever.
