An increasing number of people are looking to sell their mobile phones in order to get their hands on the latest smartphone to do their online shopping on the device, it has been claimed.
Commerce sales leader for IBM Europe David Hoggs said that more and more people are using their mobile phones, particularly Androids, iPads and iPhones to shop online.
Mr Hoggs said he believes this rise in the number of people using their phones to shop is down to the growing familiarity that people have with the devices.
"A lot of us are familiar with the proliferation of smartphones. Historically, Apple and iPhones came very early into the marketplace and over the last year there has been a great growth in Android handsets," he added.
Mr Hoggs' comments come after IBM Europe found that online shopping was up by 5.4 per cent in December 2011 and was 16 per cent higher in January 2012 when compared with the previous year.
