The Huawei Ascend W1 mobile phone will be exclusively available in the UK from the operator O2, and devices will hit shelves from March 7th.

Purchasing this handset could be one of the most affordable ways for gadget lovers to take advantage of the Windows Phone 8 (WP8) operating system.

Buyers will be able to get their hands on a Pay & Go version for less than £120, while contracts including minute, text and data allowances will start from £13.50 per month.

The smartphone will be available in electric blue or pink, and the vibrant casing surrounds a four-inch 480 x 800 LCD touchscreen.

Games and tools from the app catalogue on the Window Phone Store will therefore look impressive, as will snaps taken on the five-megapixel camera.

Supporting the software to provide a smooth and speedy user experience is a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and 512 MB of RAM.
