HTC has launched a new smartphone, which it says is its “most personal, beautiful and powerful” device yet. The HTC One M9 represents a return to form for the Taiwanese tech company and, to say the least, it is an exceptionally beautiful and engaging mobile.
Launched at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona at the start of the month, the smartphone has been described as being intuitive, stylish and highly engaging. You can’t go far wrong with it.
“HTC has built its reputation on challenging expectations in the mobile industry,” commented Cher Wang, chairwoman, of HTC.
“The HTC One M9 accomplishes this once again with stunning elegance and design, combined with smart features that help bring your world to life, connecting you in a deeper way to the things you consider most important. So much more than just a phone, the HTC One M9 is an extension of who you are.”
Here are the key details.
A timeless design
This is a superbly designed smartphone. Taking elements from both the HTC One M7 and HTC One M8, the HTC One M9 is instantly recognisable but highly distinct – it certainly makes a bold statement.
Coming in a dual-tone all metal body, the device is sumptuous in every regard and purposeful – the mirrored gold edges have been tailored to be ergonomically beneficial to users.
It’s about you
Given that smartphones are with us most of the time, it is fair to say that they have become a permanent extension of who we are as individuals. HTC appreciates this, stating that one’s device should “make a statement about who you are”
Thanks to its new Sense 7, this is now a reality, as it “puts you in control of everything”. It can be customised to suit you and the power behind it learns about your unique character. As such, it can, for example, transform the look and feel of your apps and colour schemes.
Now that’s a pretty picture
HTC doesn’t hold back when it comes to camera power on the One M9. The main camera boasts an astonishing 20 megapixels, which means you can almost guarantee that every image you capture is going to be of the highest quality.
The company has also invested heavily into one of the main bugbears that people have with cameras on phones – the fact that lens are more prone to scratches. This has been achieved through a sapphire cover, which offers suitable protection.
An often overlooked area in smartphone design is audio, however, this is growing in prominence. With the HTC One M9, users can experience a brilliant listening experience, a “larger than life soundtrack” as the company puts it.
This comes courtesy of the device’s BoomSound, while the dual front-facing speakers benefit from a 5.1 channel Dolby Surround sound simulation”. You will definitely notice that your songs sound more alive and your movies more cinematic.
