HTC is developing a phablet known as the DLX, according to an apparent leak by Twitter user @Football4PDA.

A phablet is a gadget which incorporates the functions of a smartphone with the larger size of a tablet computer.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is one of the most successful in the UK, and LG recently unveiled its Optimus Vu 2 phablet device.

The leak suggests that Google's Android Jelly Bean operating system will power the gadget, as it does with the Samsung model. LG's offering has the previous version, Ice Cream Sandwich, installed.

A five-inch full HD screen will allegedly feature, making it an excellent device for playing games or watching videos on.

Internal storage looks set to be 16 GB but with many smartphones now offering up to 64 GB, some consumers may find this disappointing.

It seems that the HTC phone-come-tablet will also have an impressive 12-megapixel rear and two-megapixel front-facing camera.
