Recycling mobiles in order to create a space for the new Facebook phone may be an exciting prospect for social networking fans.
Vodafone has today (July 27th) announced the launch of the first handset designed with the popular website in mind.
The Vodafone 555 Blue has been created as part of a partnership with Facebook and it is the social networking experience that is at the heart of the device.
It allows owners to easily enter a status, share their photographs and send messages to friends from their phone.
Patrick Chomet, group terminals director at Vodafone, said: "The Vodafone 555 Blue is a unique and innovative handset, designed and developed by Vodafone to offer a simple but powerful Facebook experience."
Another of the model's advantages is that it comes ready to go, with the mobile operator boasting that it will be running within moments of its emergence from the box.
Facebook was in the headlines earlier this week when a blogger for TechCrunch revealed he had managed to find a prototype of a potential app for the site to be used on the Apple iPad.
