Mobile phone users over the coming months may increasingly be willing to trade in their existing device and invest in a new Nokia model as the firm starts to make significant improvements.
Anssi Vonjaki, the company’s new head of mobile solutions, told the Nokia Conversations blog he intends to oversee the brand’s rise to the top of the market.
"I am committed, perhaps even obsessed, with getting Nokia back to being number one in high-end devices," he explained.
Ways in which Mr Vonjaki plans to do this include making the most of the firm’s research and development resources, designing top-of-the-range smartphones and delivering services faster.
However, the first thing customers may notice is the upcoming release of the Nokia N8, set to feature high-quality camera and video abilities that will make it an "entertainment powerhouse".
The blog last week noted the new mobile phone will include HDMI technology, allowing users to show films and photos from the device on a television.
