Outdoor clothing company Caterpillar is turning its hands to producing mobile phones as it is reportedly working on a new toughphone to enter the market.
The Cat B15 smartphone is available to buy in the UK from Unlocked-Mobiles for a modest price of £299.
Customers can expect the device to sport a four-inch display, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean a 1GHz dual-core processor and five mega-pixel camera.
Specifications are quite modest on the handset as expected for the price, but the device is set to appeal to the adventurous types that want their smartphones to be able to endure extreme conditions in their active lifestyle.
The device can also survive in up to a metre of water for 30 minutes thanks to its IP67 certification and can also withstand a 1.8-metre drop.
Launching the toughphone now puts Cat in direct competition with JCB, which released its similar handset last year, but didn't measure up to the specifications that the CB15 has.
