People who sell their mobile phones and invest in the latest models may find they are better placed to deal with the rigours of using public transport.
Howard Wilcox, author of the Juniper Research Blog, said there are a number of things travel companies can do to make it easier for mobile owners to catch a train, bus or plane.
He suggested airlines are among those to move fastest in this area, already offering the chance to download boarding passes and buy tickets via a handset.
“The addition of value added services over and above the basic ticket transaction increases the attractiveness of the offer in the eyes of the user: journey information, timetables, delays, loyalty to name a few,” stated Mr Wilcox.
He went on to name the app released by Siberia Airlines as a great example of what can be achieved.
It was announced this week that Debenhams has rolled out its app to Android and Nokia customers.
