Mobile phones could hold the key to success for a number of businesses over the years to come, if one expert is to be believed.
Ben Sillitoe, editor of Retail Gazette, explained e-retail is one of the driving forces of the market at the moment.
He noted there has been a significant advancement in technology in recent times that has led to many firms taking up new m-commerce practices.
“Online and mobile commerce is a key consideration for all companies right now, because that is where the consumer is and these are the platforms where the consumer wants to shop,” Mr Sillitoe stated.
He identified brands such as Play.com, Ebay and Amazon as among those to have succeeded in this area, perhaps paving the way for others to focus on mobile retail.
Dr Charles Trotman, head of rural business development for the Country Land and Business Association, recently said the poor quality of broadband in rural areas means firms located there often struggle to make the most of the web and mobile phones.
