British firms might find trading in mobile phones and upgrading to the latest models that offer access to social networks such as Facebook is a wise move.

Spencer Parker, group product manager at Websense, explained the site is becoming increasingly acceptable in commercial circles.

He noted many businesses now have their own Facebook page with the intention of attracting potential customers to it.

The expert also noted that it can be crucial in improving brand awareness and trust, which in turn can lead to an enhanced business.

Mr Parker said this is in stark contrast to just two years ago, when most companies would not allow staff access to social networks – something that can now be achieved with mobile phones.

He was speaking at Infosecurity Europe – an event that is held in London and offers the latest advice, products and education to visitors on the security industry, particularly within IT.
