A spokesperson for Mobile Choice recently commented on this demographic, noting that such services are now a mainstream offering and a number of manufacturers and developers are keen to exploit this.
Natasha Stokes, editor of the industry news resource, explained that although the type of applications being offered are growing and changing on a regular basis, the sector is still in its infancy.
However, she added now that the early adopters have gotten used to the systems available, networks have been able to push the technology out further.
“Mobile internet is now widespread and all the large mobile operators make it an integral part of many tariff plans. So not only is there now popular awareness of mobile internet, it’s also easy and cheap to get.”
A recent report from Nielsen showed web visit using handsets were up by 34 per cent year-on-year during July 2009.
