Apple iPhone handsets contribute 46 per cent of all mobile phone web traffic, according to a user agent analysis in the US and Canada conducted by Chitika Insights.
The Californian manufacturer released the first generation of the iconic device in 2007. Since then, there have been iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S and 5 versions.
The latest sixth-generation smartphone accounts for three per cent of mobile phone web traffic alone.
It has been extremely popular, gaining record pre-orders for the company and achieving five million sales in its opening weekend.
Apple's biggest rival at the moment is the Samsung Galaxy S3, which has won two Mobile Phone of the Year awards. The handset currently has a two per cent share of the web traffic.
The South Korean company's other gadgets, such as the Galaxy Note 2, constitute 15 per cent of all mobile internet visits.
All other smartphone brands, like Motorola and HTC, together represent 37 per cent.
