Most Apple iPhone devices are available only in white and black, but an industry expert believes that the 5S handset will come in a range of six to eight different colours.
In line with previous patterns, the new seventh-generation mobile phone is expected to be named the 5S, with incremental upgrades from the 5 model.
However, a variety of vibrant casings could be showcased at the next Apple iPhone launch, if Jeffries analyst Peter Misek's predictions are correct.
Nokia recently released an advertisement poking fun at the lack of colour in the iPhone range, attempting to attract customers to its vibrant Lumia 920 Windows Phone 8 (WP8) gadgets.
Many Apple handset owners utilise specially designed cases which allow them to personalise the look of their mobile phone.
Mr Misek also believes that the American manufacturer could bring back the release schedule so that the smartphone is available in June, rather than the early autumn period.
