Apple has been granted another patent that indicates it wants to integrate video gaming into mobile phones.
The Cupertino company has been given game-orientated patents in the past, but this is this first that indicates multiplayer gaming is an ambition for the firm.
As well as the multiplayer document, Apple was also granted 42 other patents by the US Patent and Trademark Office.
This could mean the company plan to create better gaming inside its future iPhones, but it could also be possible that Apple is planning to make its own gaming console.
If Apple does choose to turn its hands to gaming the impact could destroy the field, according to a former Microsoft lead engineer and co-founder of Xbox Nat Brown.
Brits appear to agree with the engineer as 50 per cent said they would put money down for an Apple console in a recent poll and critics don’t expect either the new Xbox or PS4 to make the grade.
