Recycling a mobile phone or two can lead to consumer having a gap to fill, often with a new and up-to-date model.
It appears that the most popular option at the moment is to choose a device that runs on the Android operating system, which has performed well in research by Kantar Worldpanel ComTech.
The study conducted by the firm found that Android is currently the favourite platform among mobile users in six out of eight countries.
With a market share of 44.9 per cent in UK – up more than 35 per cent on previous figures – that system is proving to be one of the best in the sector.
Dominic Sunnebo, global consumer insight director at Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, said: “Android now holds the top spot in six countries and continues to make large share gains in Europe. In the US market, Android share has remained relatively static.”
Motorola recently announced it is to launch the innovative and new Photon 4G mobile phone, which will run on the Android platform.
