The Sony Xperia Z3 is available to order now following its launch in September at the IFA show in Berlin. But what can we expect from the Japanese corporation’s latest release?
Well, aesthetically the smartphone comes in four colours, with users being able to choose from white, green, copper and black, for the handset that will feature a slim 146x72x7.3mm rounded aluminium frame that weighs 152 g. It will also include durable tempered glass panels, giving it a much more premium appearance.
The 5.2 inch ultra-bright display will use Sony’s Triluminos, Live Colour LED and X-Reality technology, making the images displayed on the screen much more vivid and rich. It will apparently also make the screen much easier to read in bright sunlight.
Camera-wise, the Sony Xperia Z3 offers a fantastic 20.7 MP camera with autofocus, as well as a 2.2 MP front-facing camera for those wanting to practice their selfie skills, and ISO modes. The camera feature also has various manual modes so the user can have a bit of fun with their photography skills. It can record 4k videos, and, perhaps the icing on the cake, has some fun reality camera modes, which allow the user to include a number of playful stickers, such as party balloons and dinosaurs, in real-time into the photos and videos.
If fun gimmicks appeal to you, then you can’t really go wrong with this device, especially given that it offers PS4 Remote Play, which allows you to use the device as a remote screen through which you can actually play Playstation 4 games. This works via the DualShock 4 wireless controller and GCM10 Game control mount – perfect for when someone else is hogging the television.
If the thought of the battery running out while you are so close to finishing the next PS4 level brings you out in a cold sweat, fear not, for the battery life of the Sony Xperia Z3 is pretty incredible. At 3100 mAh, you can expect that comforting battery symbol to remain on the device for up to 16 hours worth of talk time, 920 hours of standby time, 130 hours of music listening time, and up to ten hours of video playback time.
For those using the smartphone to listen to music, then you can expect the high standards that the renowned Walkman software offered, as it is present alongside high-res audio. The front-facing speakers feature S Force Front Surround, allowing you to hear your music perfectly clearly.
The software of the Sony Xperia Z3 is identical to its predecessor, the Sony Xperia Z2, and includes various Sony customisations to its Android KitKat 4.4.4 feature.
While Sony’s newest release comes shortly after Apple’s highly anticipated iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, as well as Samsung’s Galaxy Alpha, the Sony Xperia Z3 is a force to be reckoned with in the world of smartphones.
